Please stop the vertical video madness

The image shows a modern living room with a stylish and eclectic design. The focal point is a black wall with various decorative elements, including a drawing of a bicycle, several picture frames in blue and white, and illustrations of bow ties. Below the wall, there is a low white shelf made of wooden crates, holding books, bottles, and a small vintage radio. A large black rectangle, possibly a TV, is also mounted on the wall.

To the right, there is a gray sofa adorned with blue and gray cushions. A small white table with a blue lamp and a vintage camera sits next to the sofa. In the foreground, there is a light blue ottoman. A white coffee table with green apples in a bowl is placed in front of the sofa. The room is well-lit with natural light coming from the right side, and a modern white wireframe chandelier hangs from the ceiling. The overall decor is a mix of contemporary and vintage elements, creating a cozy and inviting atmosphere.

Hands up if you’ve ever visited the home of someone who mounted their living room TV vertically just for the fun of it… Now, hands up if you are guilty of shooting video vertically with your phone…

Now, of course I’d hate for this blog to become a rant blog, but if you’d ask me what my major pet peeves are with technology, number one would be lousy battery life, but number two would have to be the amount of vertical video still being shot in 2018.

Part of the problem comes from the phone makers who seem incapable of designing their camera software to force the video into the correct format, but it really isn’t too hard to turn your phone 90 degrees to ensure the rest of the world doesn’t have to suffer when they watch that one clip of your adorable baby, or you doing something really stupid, like rocket powered jetski boots, or shooting video holding your phone wrong 🙂

So, next time you feel the urge to film something, think of my rant, and turn that phone before you hit record!
